Mini Metal Lathe 3/4 hp Motor & Control board & all controls 550W Variable Speed

This is the 550 watt 3/4 HP motor removed from my 7" x 14" Mini Metal Lathe (the blue mini lathes spindle driven). It includes a new control board suitable to run up to a 1 hp motor.

Also included is the reversing switch and a new speed control switch and the old power box. The motor shaft is 8 mm and it has the bolts to mount it into most mini lathes. The original motor toothed pulley is included but it may be different than yours. Everything is tested and works well. This should be all you need to get your burnt out (motor and or board) mini lathe back and running. It should also work to up grade a 1/2 hp lathe to a 3/4 variable speed lathe. The board is not bolted into the control box and it does not fit in the control box correctly anyway. The solder joints on the back of the circuit board are also bare. This means you must use an insulated (non conductive)spacer between the board and the box you mount it into.

The number 1 cause for failed control boards is metal filings inside the control box. For this reason the board it's self needs to be mounted in a electronics box separate from the lathe and up on the wall high above the lathe.

Even a small home made wood box would work great just vent it or fan cool it so there is a way for heat to escape but not for metal filings to get blown in. Than wire down to the speed controls in the empty old control box mounted on the lathe.

This way you can keep the board protected from lathe cuttings. Why I have these parts: The board in my new mini lathe had failed in the first 6 hours of use due to my blowing metal filings into the control box. I pulled the box open and watched its final sparks of death.

I fixed that lathe with the servo mod motor upgrades I sell but in the mean time I kept looking until I found a suitable control board. Now it all is fixed but I have no use for these parts anymore. In the box (see photo): Includes 1 motor, 1 control board, 1 reversing switch and one speed control switch. However as with all electronics just connecting 1 wire wrong can burn them out in seconds.
