Kity 623 Spindle Moulder Great condition variable speed drive & powerful motor

  

Kity 623 Spindle Moulder - Brilliant piece of woodworking kit. Heavy cast aluminium bed 450x650mm. 30mm spindle which has 70mm of height travel.

This is a variable speed machine using the changeover pulley arrangement 4800 rpm, 6400 rpm & 8700 rpm. There is a 200mm aperture insert ring. Single phase 1.5kW Kity induction motor is very quiet and there is approximately 3.3m of cable. The control switch has a built in no-voltage return safety feature. This machine will take cutter blocks, groovers, wobble saw and other tooling up to 180mm diameter.

The fence is fitted to the cast aluminium block with micro adjustment knobs and there is a dust extraction port at the rear to connect 100mm diameter pipe (note this has a reducer fitted to take 80mm diameter hose but can easily be removed to restore 100mm outlet). Dust extraction can also be connected to pipe that runs into base from underside of spindle mechanism.

Safety guard cover, hold down pressure spring is included. Also part of the sale is a copy of the original operating & maintenance manual. Condition of equipment is "Used". Hopefully the photographs give a good representation of the condition and overall state and form an important part of the overall description. I believe this machine has had very little use, it is really quite excellent.

It has been stripped down and cleaned. Every part of this machine is original and the usual broken parts are still intact and working (safety switch/access door/speed indicator lights/spindle bolt and nut). There are some very slight chips to paintwork and various very minor scratches as is often the case with older kit but this is a great example of this quality Kity equipment that has been looked after. I can help with loading into vehicle (subject to social distancing) as machine weighs around 72kg.

The opening at the bottom of the spindle block is for the extraction pipe (shown grey in the photo looking into the pulley wheel area) that travels down into the base unit for connection of an extract hose. There is no play in the spindle and all the rise/fall mechanisms move freely and with ease. I assume the bearings are therefore in good order. Supply power cable is fitted with standard 13amp three pin plug.

Illuminated spindle speed indicator lights are all in working order. Pulley/belt access door is fitted with safety switch stopping spindle operation while door is open. Motor is rated at 9.7Amps (taken from specification plate on motor). The belt wheel selection guide is fitted and this registers the selected speed back to the main illuminated control panel.
